Malloy's journey began in 1945, founded by Emmett and Mary Malloy in a modest building in downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The original company had two departments: Motor Repair and Electric Construction. Both departments served an industrial economy that was rebuilding after the war and modernizing rapidly, and both established the foundation of hands-on service that defines Malloy to this day. In 1971, Garry and Dianne Jacobson took the helm and broadened the company's scope to include retail sales of motors, electrical equipment, and power transmission components. The expansion positioned Malloy as a complete industrial partner rather than a single service shop, and it laid the groundwork for the multi-location, multi-service-line business we have become. The decades since have been a continuous story of growth, capability expansion, and customer commitment. Each expansion has been driven by customer need: a new location where existing customers were struggling with response time, a new service line where customers needed capability we did not yet offer, an upgraded facility where the scale of the work exceeded what the existing shop could handle. We have grown because our customers grew, and because we invested to keep pace with them.
