Iowa's Best Contractors

Road two · They do the bidding

Post it once. Let them come to you.

Four steps, about two minutes, and your contact details stay locked until you decide who earns them. All 17,803 registered Iowa contractors are on the other side.

  1. 1

    Describe your job

Type it like you’d say it, "finish my basement in Ankeny". Plain words work.

  2. 2

    Add a photo (optional)

One picture turns a guess into a real number, contractors who can see the work bid on it properly. Skip it and you can still send.

  3. 3

    Drop your email

That IS the login, no password, no account form. We email you a sign-in link, and one tap on it sends your project out. Nothing goes anywhere until you tap.

  4. 4

    Contractors bid

Registered contractors answer with price and start date. Compare, pick one, and only the winner ever sees your contact details.

Start with step 1: say the job

Getting contractor bids in Iowa

What does it cost to get bids?
Nothing. Posting a project is free, there is no obligation to hire anyone, and you are never charged for a bid. Contractors pay us for placement in the directory; homeowners never pay us at all.
Who sees my name, email and phone number?
Nobody, until you decide. Contractors bidding on your project see the job, the timeline and any photo, never your contact details. Only the bidder you choose to release them to ever receives them, and that release is a deliberate click on your side.
Who are the contractors bidding?
Businesses holding a current construction contractor registration with the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing. Registration under Iowa Code § 91C is a filing requirement, not a licence, the State does not vet, screen or approve the businesses on this list. Always confirm insurance and references yourself before you hire.
How long does it take to get a bid?
Contractors are notified as soon as your project goes live, which happens the moment you click the sign-in link we email you. How fast they answer is up to them, most trades quote within a few days, and busy seasons are slower.
Do I need to create an account?
No password, no signup form. You give an email address, we send a sign-in link, and clicking it both proves the inbox is yours and opens your project to contractors. That link is also how you come back to read bids.
Do I need a photo of the job?
No, but it changes the bids you get. A contractor who can see the work quotes a real number; one who cannot either pads the estimate or turns up to re-quote. If there is nothing to photograph yet, a new build, work that has not started, say so and bidders will see that instead.
Can I get bids anywhere in Iowa?
Yes. The registry covers all 99 counties and every registered construction trade, so a project in a small town reaches the same contractors a project in Des Moines does, including businesses in neighbouring towns that cover your area.
What if I would rather just call someone?
Then do that instead. Every registered contractor in the State file has a page here with their registration number and, where the State holds one, a phone number. Nothing is behind a login, and you never have to post a project to use the directory.
