These terms are an agreement between you and Favorite Followers LLC, trading as Iowa's Best Contractors, which operates contractiowa.com. “We”, “us” and “our” mean Favorite Followers LLC.
We are a noticeboard, not a party to your deal
Iowa's Best Contractors lists contractors and lets homeowners post projects for contractors to bid on. We are not a contractor, a broker, an agent, or a party to any agreement you make. We do not perform work, guarantee work, supervise work, handle payments, or hold funds. Any contract you enter is strictly between you and the other person.
No endorsement, no ranking, no vetting
Listing here is not a recommendation, endorsement, or guarantee of anyone’s work. We do not vet, screen, background-check, or assess the quality of any contractor. “Iowa’s Best Contractors” is our business name — it is not a rating of any contractor on this site.
Order of results is commercial. Premium contractors pay for placement, appear first, and carry a gold check. Verified contractors — who proved they control their listing through the State’s registry — appear next with a green check. Everyone else follows alphabetically. A key explaining both badges appears with every list. Paying moves a listing up; it never removes anyone from the list, and it is not a judgement of anyone’s work.
Registration is not a licence
Iowa contractor registration under Iowa Code ch. 91C confirms compliance with unemployment insurance and workers’ compensation law. The State does not test skills, verify experience, or check references. Confirm registration status directly with the State, and get proof of insurance, references, and a written quote before you hire anyone.
Claiming a contractor profile
A profile can be claimed only by proving control of a channel the State already has on file for that registration — the email address on file, or the phone number on file. Attempting to claim a business you do not own or are not authorised to represent is a breach of these terms, and depending on what you do with it, may be unlawful. One verified owner per registration. We may revoke a claim if we believe it was obtained improperly.
Bidding, and how you may contact homeowners
If you bid on a project, you agree that:
- Your bid is an offer to the homeowner, not to us, and we do not guarantee it will be seen, answered, or accepted.
- You may not contact a homeowner outside this platform until they have chosen to release their contact details to you. Attempting to identify or reach a homeowner who has not released their details — or using details they did release for anything other than the project they released them for — is a breach of these terms and grounds for removal.
- You will honour what you bid, or tell the homeowner promptly if something changes.
Posting a project
Describe real work you actually intend to have done. Do not post other people’s personal information, and remember that the description you write, the photos you attach, and any message you send a bidder are all shown to contractors — so keep your phone number and address out of them until you decide to release them.
Choosing a contractor
Choosing a contractor releases your contact details to that contractor and to nobody else, marks the project as awarded, and tells the other bidders the job is taken so they are not left waiting. It is a decision about who may contact you — it is not a contract, and we are not a party to whatever you agree with them. Price, scope, timing, permits, insurance and payment are between you and the contractor. We do not vet, screen, rate or guarantee anyone, and we take no commission on the work.
Accounts
Keep access to your email secure — it is how you sign in. Do not impersonate anyone, do not share an account, and do not create accounts to game the platform. We may suspend or remove any account that breaches these terms, spams other users, or misuses contact details.
Accuracy
Our listings are a snapshot of the state registry, last refreshed 2026-09-14. Public records contain errors and go out of date. Bids, prices and claims made by other users are theirs, not ours, and we do not verify them. Everything here is provided as-is, without warranty. If you spot something wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
Emails we send you
If we email you, we record which link you clicked and when — nothing about your device, your location or your network, and there is no tracking pixel. We may send different wording to different people to learn which is clearer; every version states only what we can evidence. Unsubscribing is one click, takes effect immediately, and never affects your listing.
What we may read from your website
If your registration’s State-held email is at your own domain, we may read the public pages of that website and suggest what we find as additions to your listing. We identify ourselves as IowasBestContractorsBot, read no more than three pages, and access nothing a visitor could not.
Once you have claimed a listing, nothing we find is published unless you add it. Suggestions are visible only to you and to anyone you have made an administrator. If you add one, it becomes part of your listing and is yours — the same as anything you typed there — and the same accuracy terms above apply to it.
On a listing nobody has claimed, we may show a short description, a tagline, the founding year, and whether the site states free estimates or emergency service. It is attributed on the page to the website it came from and labelled as unverified and unclaimed. We never publish an email address, a street address, a phone number taken from a website, a link to a website, links to social profiles, or a logo this way, and we drop any text asserting a credential Iowa registration does not confer.
We do not check whether anything on your website is true; we only note that your website says it. Claim the listing free to edit or delete any of it, use the correction form, or tell us at hello@contractiowa.com if you would rather we did not read your website at all.
Notifications
We send you email about activity on your own account: a bid arriving on a project you posted, and — for contractors with an active Premiere subscription — a project matching the trades and counties you selected. Those alerts are part of what a Premiere subscription buys; a free listing can still see and bid on every open project, but we do not push it to you.
Notifications are a convenience, not a guarantee. We do not warrant that any notification will be sent, delivered, or delivered on time, and email and mobile delivery are outside our control. Do not rely on a notification as your only way of learning about a bid or a project — everything is always in your portal, which is the record. You can turn notifications off at any time from the link in any message or from your portal, and doing so never removes a listing, cancels a project, or deletes anything.
Text messages
You can choose to receive account text messages — if you are a contractor, verification codes and notifications about your listing, bids and enquiries; if you are a homeowner, bids on your own project. We only text you if you explicitly agree to it, and only at a number you gave us for that purpose, and consent is never a condition of using this site: email always works instead, and a contractor verifying a listing can ask for an automated phone call. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop all messages, HELP for help, or YES to confirm a number you asked us to text. We record replies to those keywords so that stopping actually stops — see privacy. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Opting out never removes your listing. Disclaimer of warranties
This site and everything on it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that listings are accurate or current, that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any message will be delivered.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Iowa's Best Contractors and Favorite Followers LLC are not liable for the work, conduct, pricing, or honesty of any contractor or homeowner you meet through this site, nor for any loss arising from a job arranged here. Hiring someone is your decision, and the checks above exist because you should make it carefully.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost business, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to this site or these terms, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to this site is limited to the greater of (a) one hundred US dollars ($100), or (b) the total amount you actually paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so parts of the two paragraphs above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Binding arbitration and class action waiver
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS. IT REQUIRES DISPUTES TO BE RESOLVED BY INDIVIDUAL BINDING ARBITRATION RATHER THAN IN COURT, AND WAIVES YOUR RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY CLASS ACTION.
You and Favorite Followers LLC agree that any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or relating to this site, these terms, or your use of either — whether in contract, tort, statute or otherwise — will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, and not in court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this section. Arbitration will take place in Iowa, or by telephone or video, or in another place we both agree. The arbitrator’s decision is final and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Class action waiver. Claims may be brought only in your individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims and may award relief only in favour of the individual party seeking it, and only to the extent necessary to provide relief on that individual claim.
What is not covered. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies, and either of us may seek injunctive relief in court to stop unauthorised use, scraping, or infringement of intellectual property. Bringing such a claim does not waive this section for anything else.
If the class action waiver is held unenforceable as to a particular claim or request for relief, then that claim or request will be severed and heard in a court of competent jurisdiction, and the rest of this section will continue to apply to all other claims. If any other part of this section is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in force.
Acceptable use
Don’t scrape this site to build a competing dataset, and don’t use it to send unsolicited marketing to the contractors listed here. The underlying records are public, and you are free to get them from the State directly.
Who we are
Iowa's Best Contractors is a registered trade name of Favorite Followers LLC, which owns and operates this site. We market products and services from BizRnR, a separate company, to contractors who claim a profile. These terms are governed by the law of the State of Iowa, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the arbitration section above, the state and federal courts located in Iowa have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that is not arbitrated.
If we change these terms materially we will update the date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
