Iowa's Best Contractors now has a YouTube channel, @IowasBestContractors. Its first six videos, published October 27 to 29, 2026, show the two ways to use the free directory: search every contractor registered with the State of Iowa and call one directly, or post your project once and compare any quotes that come back.
Watch all six videos
Together the six videos run 6 minutes 36 seconds. Two are standard videos and four are YouTube Shorts, made to watch on a phone in under a minute. Each title below opens the video on YouTube.
| Video | Length | Made for |
|---|---|---|
| How Iowa's Best Contractors works | 1:51 | Homeowners new to the site |
| Find a contractor in under a minute | 0:57 | Homeowners on a phone |
| Need a roofer? | 0:39 | Leaks, hail damage, worn roofs |
| Need a plumber? | 0:51 | Frozen pipes, water heaters, drains |
| Remodeling a kitchen, bathroom or whole house | 0:47 | Remodels and renovations |
| More clients, more jobs | 1:31 | Contractors registered in Iowa |
What does the overview video show?
The overview starts with a familiar problem: 47 open tabs, three phone calls and three voicemails. It then shows the two paths the site offers. Search registered contractors by the work and your town and tap to call, or post one project request and compare the quotes interested contractors send you, side by side.
The video has chapters, so you can jump to the part you need:
- 0:00 Why is finding a contractor so hard?
- 0:23 Every State-registered contractor in one place
- 0:36 Post your project once
- 1:03 Track who quoted, compare side by side
- 1:26 Free for homeowners
Posting takes about three minutes: the job, your town and your budget, then details and a few photos. Interested contractors send quotes to your dashboard, where you compare price, start date and State registration number. You sign in with a link sent to your email, so there is no password to create, and there is no obligation to hire anyone. The same video plays on our home page with captions and a transcript.

Is there a shorter version?
Yes. Find a contractor in under a minute is a 57-second Short that tells the same story for a phone screen: post once, add the details and a few photos, and let interested registered contractors come to you. It is the easiest one to send to a neighbor or family member who is looking for help.
Three Shorts for common home projects
Each of these Shorts is built around one kind of job. The counts below come from the State's registration record as of November 2026 and update whenever that record is refreshed.
Need a roofer? (0:39)
Need a roofer? covers missing shingles, a drip in the ceiling and a roof that is simply worn out. The State's record lists 896 registered roofing contractors. Search your town and call one directly, or post your roof project and compare quotes. See every Iowa roofing contractor, and read what to do after hail or storm damage and what a new roof costs in Iowa.
Need a plumber? (0:51)
Need a plumber? starts with a pipe that froze overnight, a water heater that quit and a basement drain that backed up. The State's record lists 1,509 plumbing, heating and air conditioning contractors, each with a State registration number. Plumbers in Iowa also hold a license from the Iowa Plumbing and Mechanical Systems Board, so ask for that license number too. Browse plumbing and heating contractors, or read how to find a plumber in Iowa and how to prevent frozen pipes.
Remodeling a kitchen, bathroom or whole house (0:47)
The remodeling Short is for a new kitchen, a fresh bathroom or a bigger renovation. The State's record lists 3,454 registered residential remodelers. Pick one or two to call, or post your project, tap Remodel and add photos. Browse residential remodelers, and set a budget with the kitchen remodel cost guide and the bathroom remodel cost guide. Building a new home instead? Confirm that a business handles new construction before you ask for a quote.
What does the contractor video cover?
More clients, more jobs is for the people on the other side of the request. Every contractor registered with the State of Iowa is already listed here, free. The 91-second video shows how to claim that listing in about a minute and how Premiere, the optional membership, lets a contractor open a homeowner's full project request and send a price and start date. Premiere members appear first, marked with the gold check.
The same video plays on our page for contractors and the claim page. Current Premiere terms are on the pricing page, and the free listing never requires a card. The video also mentions Professional services, such as a website or help with a Google profile and reviews, which start with a free consultation. For a step-by-step walkthrough, read how to claim and optimize your free profile.
What the videos do not tell you
The videos show how to find and contact contractors. They do not judge anyone's work, and neither do we.
Iowa's Best Contractors is a free directory of every construction contractor registered with the State of Iowa, 18,297 registrations as of November 2026. It is operated by Favorite Followers LLC and is independent of the State. Registration under Iowa Code chapter 91C is a State filing, not a license, a quality rating or an endorsement. The name is a brand, not a rating: the site does not score, rank or endorse individual contractors. Homeowners can search by trade and town and call a contractor directly, or post a project free and compare any quotes that arrive. Quotes, prices and start dates are not guaranteed. Plumbing, heating and electrical work in Iowa also requires a license from a separate State board.
Before you hire, ask for a written estimate, proof of insurance and references, and check the registration yourself. Our guides cover each step: verify a contractor's registration, questions to ask before you hire and how to compare bids. Businesses, quotes and screens shown in some videos are examples for illustration, not real listings or offers.
